FINAL? UPDATE 11/05/2012 BSG B&C will air as a 10 episode online miniseries starting 11/09/2012. Syfy will then air a related two-hour movie in early 2013, and a DVD release will follow. For more details, see here. So that’s it, so much for seeing serious Sci-fi on Syfy.
UPDATE 03/24/2012 Movieweb has the trailer here.
UPDATE 03/22/2012 Bummer, Entertainment Weekly reports that BSG BAC will not be a regular TV show, the most likely option currently is a webseries. The 2 hour movie will air on Syfy at some point in future. See a good summary on TheHDRoom here.
UPDATE 03/21/2012, the trailer was available on Youtube earlier today (but gone now), and it looked great! I can not wait to see the full length movie (and series hopefully)
WonderCon 2012 featured the new Battlestar Galactica Blood & Chrome trailer. According to LA Times’ Hero Complex:
At the end of his talk, Grazier screened a trailer for the upcoming “Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome,” a two-hour television film which is set in the 10th year of the First Cylon War. Edited at rapid-cutting pace to Trent Reznor and Karen O’s cover of “Immigrant Song” for “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” – which was actually quite fitting with images of ice-covered planets and (space)ships – the trailer ended with title cards flashing the words “It’s time for a SyFy game-changer.”
The final words are interesting to say the least. It could be of course just marketing hype, and all we get is another ‘Razor’ quality TV movie and end of the #BSG saga. On the other hand there has been speculation that BSG BAC might indeed become a full series, but that the decision is between BSG and Sanctuary. Producing two ‘green screen’ shows with a lots of CGI content is too costly, so it is either or (unless SyFy projects substantial additional international revenue from BSG BAC).
As a BSG fan I hope the final words imply that SyFy would be seeing the light and going back to the real space-based Sci-Fi, and making BSG BAC a full TV series. In a perfect world SyFy would go a step further, drop all of the reality etc c**p, and keep both Sanctuary and BAC.
I would love to hear your thoughts/speculation below
